Indie Rights Movies teams up with director Johnny Greenlaw for the release of the award winning feature film “Mommy’s Box”.

Los Angeles, California  - Indie Rights is proud to announce the release of “Mommy’s Box”, the Award Winning Feature Film from writer/director Johnny Greenlaw. The film was released theatrically in Hollywood and is now available on Amazon and Google Play with other major platforms to follow.

Mommy’s Box follows Nick, a music producer in New York City, dealing with his own demons and chemical dependency as he gets the news of his mentally unstable mothers death. He returns home to Long Island for the wake, where family secrets are revealed, forcing him to confront the lingering influence of his mother even after her death. Back home, Nick finds a new love and a sense of spirituality he never believed in. By retracing his Mother's steps to learn more about her, he starts to find himself. This leads him on a journey he never expected and ultimately onto the path to redemption.

The film stars Johnny Greenlaw as Nick along with Bill Sorvino as his brother Joey. Rounding out a talented cast is Carly Brooke (“This is Where I Leave You”), Joe D’Onofrio (“Goodfellas” and “A Bronx Tale”), David Harris (“Warriors”) and Gina Scarda as Mommy. The film was directed by Johnny Greenlaw and written by Greenlaw and Caitlin Scherer.

Mommy’s Box has been screening for the last six months at major festivals across the country. The film took home top honors at the Manhattan Film Festival 2016, winning Best Picture. The film will conclude it’s festival run as the Opening Night Film at The Black Bear Film Festival on October 14th, 2016. INDIE WIRE writes,“Mommy’s Box” is director/actor Johnny Greenlaw’s second directorial feat, and will be arriving in theaters this Friday.

“Mommy’s Box” is co-written by Greenlaw and Caitlin Scherer and co-stars Carly Brooke, Bill Sorvino, Kade Wise and Jennifer Doric. Music for the film is provided by Paulo Coelho. Greenlaw made his directorial debut with the 2012 documentary “Finding Francis” about a man’s search for joy in life after finding out it’ll soon be gone. He’s also acted in a handful of projects including “Plus-Plus,” “The Afterlife” and the short films “Dandelion” and “John’s Life Narrated by God.” He’s currently in pre-production for the drama “The Empty Handed Painter.”

Indie Rights will release “Mommy’s Box” in theaters and digital on September 30.”

Marks Papadatos from Digital Journal says, "Mommy's Box" is an exceptional motion picture. It was released in theaters and digital formats on Sept. 30 from Indie Rights.”
“Greenlaw takes on the lead role of New York music producer Nick who is battling his own demons and he find out about his unstable mom's death. When Nick returns to his Long Island home for the mom's wake, many of the family secrets unfold, and they intertwine well with the different story-lines. The film lives up to its tag-line where "the past is never where you left it.”

The fact that Greenlaw has left the idea of the "box" open to interpretation, makes it an even more compelling motion picture.

The Verdict

Mommy's Box garners an A rating. It is rich in symbolism and it will leave the viewer drenched in a wide spectrum of raw emotions. Anybody who is from New York, especially Long Island, will find this movie relatable. It is filled with wit, mystery, suspense and the acting is superb. It was worthy of all the awards and accolades it received at the 2016 Long Island International Film Expo for "Best Film," "Best Music Score" and "Best Original Song in a Feature Film." The Manhattan Film Festival got it right when they named it "Best Feature Film" of 2016.”

Benjamin Poole from The Movie Waffler says, “Johnny Greenlaw’s movie is an intelligent, convincing and human drama. Open Mommy’s Box and you’ll find a true film by a real film maker.

“The production values of his film are gorgeous too; the deep colors and widescreen photography ambitiously present the drama with more visual panache and care than most Hollywood equivalents. Paul Coelho’s soundtrack is marvelous, and even the suits that various characters don are stunning (how often does one comment upon the costumes of a kickstarted indie?). Open Mommy’s Box and you’ll find a true film by a real film maker.”

A man’s campaign to reduce his blood pressure and eliminate the stresses from his life includes murder.

After suffering a violent heart attack, Bill is advised by his doctor to lower his blood pressure by eliminating the stresses from his life. Taking his doctor's advice literally, Bill starts killing everyday people who irritate him with poisoned darts. The killings lower Bill’s blood pressure for a while but attract the attention of Detective Jordan, an enigmatic cop who plays a strange cat and mouse game with Bill as he tries to decide whether he should arrest him or join him in his campaign.

As the cop begins to make Bill's life a living hell, stresses closer to home ramp up his blood pressure, and Bill puts his best friend Stan’s ex-wife on his hit list. Convinced that their friendship won’t last until Stan’s ex- is dead, the two men concoct a plan to get rid of her that will look like a heart attack.

Although they get away with the murder, anomalies in the forensic report suggest that the ex- was poisoned. Suspecting a connection between the “Dartman” and the poisoned woman, Detective Jordan manufactures a crazy scheme to flush Bill out as the killer he’s looking for.

With his blood pressure at an all-time high, Bill is forced to endure Jordan’s insanity as he works to extract himself and Stan from the investigation. Now targeting his own wife and her lover, Bill takes drastic measures to derail Jordan, stay out of jail, and maintain both his physical and mental health.
Bill’s calculated attempt to frame another man for the dart killings forces detective Jordan to face the truth and confront his own demons.

Announcing the Campaign to Help Fund a Composer's Next Symphonic Project

Help an entrepreneur bring a full-length original score to fans of the classical, orchestral, movie and game score genres

Irvine, CA  March 1, 2015 – Kat Bella, web developer and composer, announces the campaign to fund her next symphonic project.

Kat's first full-scale project, Symphonic I, was created in a simple home recording studio setup, using a 10 year old Yamaha keyboard and a line out to an old computer. This album contained 10 tracks that shared a common melodic theme and attempted to tell a story through music. It was available on iTunes and Amazon for a number of years, and received rave reviews from listeners.

Kat is now seeking funding in order to support the composition, recording, and production of her next project, known as Symphonic II. Kat has greatly improved her studio setup since the initial recording of Symphonic I, and is hoping to use the funding to continue to update her studio, get some time with an actual engineer, put all of the effort necessary to bring her composition to fruition.

The crowd funding goal is to raise $7,000 in 30 days. This amount will cover the cost of recording the album in the highest quality possible as well as full digital distribution through CD Baby on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, Amazon, Beats, Rhapsody, XBox Music, I <3 Radio, and many, many other digital music providers. If the goal is reached or surpassed, Kat hopes to use the extra funding for full physical distribution, re-recording Symphonic I, and more.

About Kat Bella
Kat Bella is a full time web developer and part time composer from
Southern California, USA. A self-taught musician, Kat has spent the last 17 years composing musical scores for independent PC, XBOX, iOS and Android games as well as a few short films and many Infinity Engine game mods.

In 2009 Kat released my first independent album on iTunes and Amazon called "Symphonic I". It was composed in a simple home recording studio on very basic equipment but received great reviews. Now Kat is looking to take the next step with a new project and a new opportunity to create an immersive musical experience to those that love the symphonic/classical genre.
