“Stories of a Black Twin Flame” explores love, identity and transformation through modern verse.
CHICAGO — Thaddeus Jones-McCall has released a new poetry collection, Spiritual Growth, Self-Discovery: Stories of a Black Twin Flame, a deeply personal work that traces emotional healing and spiritual awakening through narrative verse. The book is available through major online retailers, including BookBaby.
In Stories of a Black Twin Flame, Jones-McCall opens the door to a journey shaped by heartbreak, reflection and growth. The collection moves like a story, blending poetry with lived experience. Rather than presenting isolated poems, he builds a continuous emotional arc — one that follows the rise and fall of a powerful romantic and spiritual connection.
At the center of the book is the idea of the “twin flame,” often described as a soul-deep bond that mirrors one’s inner self. Jones-McCall uses that concept not as fantasy, but as framework. His poems explore what it means to see yourself clearly through another person — the beauty of that closeness, and the discomfort that comes with it.
An emerging voice in contemporary poetry, Jones-McCall focuses much of his writing on Black love and emotional restoration. His work does not shy away from vulnerability. Across the collection, readers encounter longing, miscommunication, reconciliation and self-reckoning. The tone shifts between tender and raw, hopeful and reflective. Love, in these pages, is not just romantic — it is confrontational, instructive and, at times, transformative.
Jones-McCall describes the project as more than a book of poems. For him, it serves as a record of personal evolution. “Writing has always been how I process what I’m going through,” he said. “This book shows my growth — spiritually, emotionally, creatively. Love isn’t just about another person. It’s about what that connection reveals about you.”
The narrative structure allows the collection to unfold almost like chapters in a memoir. Moments of separation give way to reunion. Doubt is followed by clarity. Pain circles back to renewal. Throughout, the poems remain grounded in accountability — the willingness to confront one’s own flaws while searching for healing.
About The Author
Thaddeus Jones-McCall was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, an upbringing that shaped both his worldview and creative voice. He later served 8 years in the United States military, where discipline and resilience became central parts of his life. Even during his years of service, writing remained a steady outlet.
His relationship with storytelling began early. He wrote his first book in the fourth grade, a small but telling sign of what would become a lifelong pursuit. Over time, poetry became his chosen form — a way to say the difficult things directly, without overcomplicating them.
Today, Jones-McCall continues to write as a means of connection. His work speaks to readers navigating love, identity and belonging, particularly within the context of Black relationships and cultural experience. While the subject matter is personal, the themes are widely relatable: the search for purpose, the tension between pride and vulnerability, the slow work of becoming whole.
