Q: Divine, your album “17” is receiving critical acclaim. What do you want people to know about your music?
Divine Wizz: Beyond the genre, I would say I have a strong reference to jazz, R&B, rock & classic soul. I tend to tap into all genres when expressing myself. I’ve always believed that music should be free, without restrictions or labels. That’s why I like to experiment with different styles to communicate different emotions and stories.
Q: “17” feels like an album that invites people to feel good and let loose. What is the message you’re hoping to send?
Divine Wizz: The message is simple: feel good music. I want my listeners to feel their best when they hear this album. Whether it's through dancing, singing along, or just vibing, I want to lift their spirits. Music has the power to heal and inspire, and that’s what I hope “17” does for everyone who listens. It’s about embracing the moment and being the best version of yourself.
Q: What does “17” say about where you are in your life and career?
Divine Wizz: This album is a reflection of my current space. It’s bold, unapologetically freeing, and full of adventure. I’m not holding back, and I think that energy comes through in every track. It’s me being fully present & not afraid to show every side of myself, the good, the bad, and everything in between.
Q: “Flight Status” stands out as one of the most powerful tracks on the album. Can you tell us about the creative process behind it?
Divine Wizz: “Flight Status” is one of my favorite tracks. I produced it myself and played the bass, and it really showcases a range of my musical abilities. It’s got this smooth groove, but at the same time, it’s uplifting & energetic. I wanted to create something that felt like it could take off—just like the title suggests.
