Announcing the Jonathan's Campaign to Jump-Start his Recovery

Jonathan Gutierrez is trying to raise funds for his medical treatment and gradually work from home with an online business.

Dallas, TX  – July 15, 2015 – Jonathan Gutierrez is trying to raise funds for medical treatment.  He’s been battling symptoms of Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome  for over 10 years, along with Erb's Palsy and Repetitive Strain Injuries. He is disabled and unable to work, and his social security application was denied.

POTS is a type of dysautonomia, which is a dysfunction of the Autonomic Nervous System. Johnathan’s symptoms include severe and debilitating fatigue, difficulty thinking/concentrating, heart palpitations, sleep disturbances, lightheadedness, many new food sensitivities, mild disequilibrium, vision problems, chronic indigestion, muscle aches, muscle wasting/weight loss, mood swings, anxiety, blood pressure problems, heat and cold intolerance, and orthostatic intolerance. He also has lots of allergies which are not well-controlled by medication and exacerbate my symptoms. The word syndrome is used when doctors don't know the cause, but thankfully there are treatment options. Jonathan also injured his right arm over the years by working with one arm on the computer. This caused severe RSI (repetitive strain injuries) on his right arm as well. As you can imagine, this just adds another layer of disability and despair.

He does not have insurance, but many of his treatment options would not be covered anyway. They have spent many years and thousands of dollars just to reach some kind of diagnosis. His now elderly parents have gone above and beyond the call of duty despite their own problems, including complications of diabetes, cardiac disease, and injuries. They're pretty much out of options, hence this fundraiser.

The road to full recovery will likely be a long one. God-willing, as his health improves, Jonathan will work on getting his life back. Since it will likely be some time before he could work at a regular job, he plans to gradually work from home with an online business. Therefore, any remaining funds will be used to launch a website so he can regain my livelihood.

The Forge Announces the The iOS "De-Identifier app" Camera App for Doctors and Patients

An iOS camera app that will automatically remove all identifying features from clinical photos.

San Francisco, CA -- May 22, 2015 – The iOS "De-Identifier app" Team, David Grundy, MD, Paul Grundy and Bobby Gayol, have just launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund the development of a powerful new smartphone camera application for use by medical professionals. Think of it as “the Snapchat for doctors” and a unique new camera app for the iPhone that will help both doctors and their patients in myriad ways!.

This app will address important issues in patient confidentiality and data security.

It’s going to be a very valuable tool for the medical field.

The use of smartphone imagery has had a powerfully transformative effect on the practice of medicine, but has also introduced many inevitable new risks:

·         Patient confidentiality
·         Image Security
·         Policy violation
·         Security of the cloud

The "De-ID", the De-Identifier app, can prevent you or another medical professional from accidentally transmitting a patient's confidential information in a smart phone picture. Without any effort, avoid all the ethical and legal problems of someone forwarding a photo you sent which had too much identifying information.

Please help The Forge build the De-ID iOS camera app that will AUTOMATICALLY find and remove all identifying portions of clinical photos!

With this extremely intuitive and simple to operate app on your phone, it will become simply impossible to take and transmit "unsafe,” privacy compromising clinical photos.

About The Forge

The iOS "De-Identifier app" Team, David Grundy, MD, Paul Grundy and Bobby Gayol, make up The Forge. They are a group of guys passionate about making the world a better place by creating unique technical and socially valuable products and services.

Announcing the Campaign to Provide Funding for a New Documentary

Help provide funding to document the recovery and rebirth of a very lucky man

Phoenix, AZ -- March 22, 2015 -- Billy F. Mullin announces the campaign to seek funding to cover the costs of filming a new documentary about his recovery and rebirth from a long series of illness of injury.

At the age of 16, Billy contracted a rare terminal form disease known as  Meningital Coccidioidomycosis, caused by a virus trapped in the valley fever fungus that is stuck in Billy’s spine. This illness caused him to have a stroke, paralyzing his entire left side. Due to the severity of this illness, his doctors gave him a grim 2 year life expectancy.

Defying all odds, Billy has now reached the age of 27. However has not been an easy journey. Since being diagnosed in August 2004 he has suffered several setbacks, requiring that he re-teach himself how to walk 3 times, spent countless days in the Hospital or in bed unable to move, received more than a dozen spinal taps, and required brain surgery 6 separate occasions. Billy’s doctors have warned him that he may require several more surgeries on his brain throughout his life to repair the damage caused by his illness.

While the seriousness of his illness coupled with the lengthy hospital stays made it impossible for him to completely finish film school, he attended enough of his coursework to realize that his true dream is to become a film maker. Hence, he decided to start a documentary about his own life and explore the passion he has for the art of tattooing.

The plan for this documentary is to film the process of completely transforming his appearance through the use of large pieces of tattoo art covering both of his arms, portions of his neck, and 70% of his torso. Throughout the documentary, Billy will couple the process of his tattoo sessions while telling his life story and subsequent illness through interviews with various important people in his life.

Billy is seeking funding in order to complete the documentary and tattoo artwork. While he admits this is likely to be a costly and dangerous venture, he believes this is the best way to explore his love of film while allowing himself to be reborn out of his previous suffering.

Announcing the Campaign to Bring Lesley Home

Help fund the travel and living expenses required to bring a woman back to her family for medical treatment

Brockton, MA  – March 9, 2015 – Annette Christine, dedicated friend and tireless supporter, announces the campaign to bring her friend back home to begin medical treatment for a variety of debilitating ailments.

Only a month before her wedding at the age of 25, Lesley suffered a heart attack. It was discovered that Peripheral Artery Disease was the cause, and is also the cause of misdiagnosed blood clot formations and nerve damage that have resulted in her inability to fully use her left leg. Recently she was given odds of a 50% chance of death in 5 years and 70% in 10 years.

Unfortunately, the state she resides in has substandard healthcare, but strict guidelines regarding pain medication. Although she lives in constant pain due to the nerve damage , which resulted from prolonged arterial blockage, Lesley has no access to any pain medication. Only a pain management physician can prescribe the medication, and her medicaid insurance will not pay for pain management. Now she received a letter saying her Medicaid will end March 31st.

Lesley's only wish is to move her and her family back to Massachusetts, where she can receive quality care before she runs out of time. Clots are constantly trying to form, despite her being on 4 different blood thinners. There is also a very real possibility of amputation in the near future. Above all, she needs access to pain management care.

Please help raise enough money for Lesley to relocate here, along with enough for a few months of living expenses so she and her family can focus on getting her care started right away.
