Creating A Life With Education For
Muntanga
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada – January 11, 2015 – Anne-marie is a
22 year old Zambian girl, studying Economics and Finance in Vancouver, Canada.
Last summer, she took some time out to visit her mother, who lives back
home in Zambia. During this time, she was pleasantly surprised to meet a new
addition to our extended family; Muntanga. Muntanga is a smiley, friendly and
polite 9 year old girl who lives with her large family in the Zambian
countryside.
Although she is just 9 years old, she has already lived an incredibly
brutal life. Her stepmom regularly beats her, and forces her to partake in
chores, which are way beyond her ability and age. Resultantly, her mother, an
incredibly loving lady, has made the noble decision to provide free education
for Muntanga, so that she may endure a brighter and better future, away from
the difficulties faced at home.
What We Need & What You Get
During my childhood, her mother taught her to believe that education has
a wonderful ability in changing not one person’s life, but entire communities
Muntanga, given the proper love and support that a child deserves, can rise
above her current circumstances, and grow into a kind and thoughtful woman,
armored with the skills necessary to move forward from her past.
With your help, we can build a better future for Muntanga; increasing
the likelihood that she may one day feel compelled to give something back to
society. One life saved goes a long way… With your help and support, we can
change the life of a young girl for the better.
Muntanga needs contributions to go to school, to buy her a uniform, a
pair of shoes, books and all the other
necessities children need to learn. A proportion of the money will be used to
feed her and pay for her healthcare, whilst the remaining funds will support
living and transportation costs.
Our ultimate goal is to give Muntanga a normal, privately educated
upbringing, away from the difficulties faced at home.
About Muntanga
Muntanga has been funny, sweet, motivated and kind; a quick and
enthusiastic learner, who is an absolute pleasure to be around. Although she
has only spent a short time with my mother, her confidence has already increased
dramatically, and her ability to solve problems never ceases to amaze us.
Unfortunately, the difficult economic climate of recent years, has hit
the general population in Zambia hard, applying enormous pressure on my
mother’s attempts in providing free education for Muntanga. This breaks her
Mom’s heart, not because she struggles to live, but because she is faced with
the incredible real possibility that she may have to let Muntanga down.
