Shavonda Robinson’s New Book Gives Voice to the Voiceless Victims of Domestic Abuse

Shavonda Robinson released a non-fiction book titled Hidden Voices of Abuse for Women Around the World. It is dedicated to encouraging women to get out of abusive relationships.

Statistics show that at least 24% of women in the United States have become the victim of physical violence by their intimate partner. The number of women that have experienced psychological abuse is even higher, more than 48 percent.

Unfortunately, those women just stay at a number, as a statistic. The victim blaming culture in this society and the lack of women empowerment have hindered them from speaking up, from getting out of those terrible situations, letting them alone getting help and justice.

This is one of the main reasons why Shavonda Robinson, a talented author from Nashville, Tennessee, wrote Hidden Voices of Abuse: For Women Around the World. Hidden Voices of Abuse is a non-fiction motivational book that is aimed to encourage victims of domestic violence to speak up.

Robinson’s powerful words help readers understand the struggle of the domestic abuse victims and why most of them are reluctant to speak up. But in the same time, it also provides knowledge on how to recognize signs of violence in the relationship and also give strength and courage for the women to be brave, stand for themselves and get out of that toxic relationship. It also encourages people to be more aware of their surroundings. If they find signs of domestic violence among their friends or families, they must be able to help the victims

Recovery is one of the most difficult things for a victim of domestic abuse has to deal with. Many victims also end up blaming themselves for their inability to save themselves. This book also discusses this issue. Robinson carefully talks about this thing and guide women to recover and ensure them that they are worthy and nothing of this is their fault. Domestic violence is not an easy thing to talk about, mainly because the victims refuse to acknowledge it. With this book, Robinson wants to help women to stand as a survivor.
