Lionsgate reboots George A. Romero Classic ‘Day of the Dead’
Hollywood, CA - Lionsgate has joined forces with Nu Image/Millennium Films (The Expendables, Rambo) to reboot the 1985 George A. Romero classic “Day of the Dead”. The film will star Sophie Skelton (Outlander), Jeff Gum (The Forgiven), Marcus Vanco (The Shannara Chronicles) and Johnathon Schaech (Legends of Tomorrow).
Day of the Dead centers on a few survivors living in a post-apocalyptic world overrun with zombies.  It’s the third film in Romero’s “Dead” series, including Night of the Living Dead in 1968 and Dawn of the Dead in 1978.  Romero himself cites Day of the Dead as his personal favorite of all his zombie films (he mentions this in the documentary entitled The Many Days of the Dead).
Producers are Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman.  Campbell and Grobman produced Texas Chainsaw 3D, which grossed $34 million in its release from Lionsgate. “Contrary to other recent zombie remakes, our Day of the Dead will honor Romero’s original vision by reviving the brooding zombie that terrorized so many of our childhoods. Our goal is to reset the genre by finding the perfect balance between nostalgia and modernity.” says Grobman.
Avi Lerner, Boaz Davidson, John R. Sherman and Jeff Gum are Executive Producers.  “I’m really excited to see what the George A. Romero fans say. I think they will be pleased to see how much of the original story we kept in place.” says Gum.
The remake is budgeted at $10M-$20M.  The film’s director, Hector Hernandez Vicens, currently has the film in post-production.

ABOUT THE CAST
Sophie Skelton plays Zoe Parker in the film. Zoe is a former medical student tormented by a dark figure from her past. Skelton stars in the Emmy Awarding TV series Outlander.

Jeff Gum plays Miguel Salazar in the film. Miguel is high ranking former U.S. Army operative who is the leader of the group of survivors. Gum is staring alongside Forest Whitaker and Eric Bana in The Forgiven, which is currently filming in South Africa.

Marcus Vanco plays Baca Salazar in the film. Baca is Miguel’s younger brother whom struggles with his brothers decisions on the best way to survive the overrun post-apocalyptic world. Vanco stars in the TV series The Shannara Chronicles.

Johnathon Schaech plays Max in the film.  Max is a figure from Zoe Parker’s past and is a modern take on the zombie known as BUB in George A. Romero’s 1985 classic. Schaech stars in the TV series Legends of Tomorrow, which airs on The CW Television Network.

13th Enlightment Films Announces the DECEPTION Horror Feature Film

Trapped in the city with no way out they fight and try to escape as they uncover the horrific truth behind the government’s plans.

Reading, PA  – January 13, 2015 – DECEPTION Is based in the year 2016 when a small city in Pennsylvania has reached a financial crisis. Businesses are going bankrupt, schools and malls are closing down, the crime rate is at its highest and the city is on the verge of a great depopulation. Homeland security has built a massive wall around Reading, PA and surrounding counties. The residents of the areas are told the wall was built to protect the people from a natural disaster that's soon to occur. A group of friends soon realize after a series of unexplainable explosions and hospitals reaching maximum capacity that they are being deceived by the government. Before they can take action the city is terrorized by mutated flesh eating humans. Trapped in the city with no way out they fight and try to escape as they uncover the horrific truth behind the government’s plans.

13th Enlightment Films recently finished writing their first screenplay DECEPTION and they are ready to take it to the next level of filming their first independent film! It makes them both nervous and excited to know that they will be shooting their first major independent film in two months. Their goal is to raise $20,000 until March 25 2015. This money will allow them to cover costs of location permits/fees as well as transportation, food for cast and crew, and promotion and advertising. While they are able to come up with some of the money by themselves, they are not currently working due to a heavy schedule. With no constant source of income it has been difficult to collect enough money to fully finance this film.

The power inherent in the number 13 is neither ''good'' nor ''bad''. Power is just energy untill utilized. Its power is one of the reasons for its negative reputation. Those who do not resonate with its vibrations find the vibes to be an obstacle and will certainly experience negative circumstances in their lives. 13 represents the basic triad, 1-2-3 as self -partnership-group. The individual digits in the number 3 add up to the number 4, which represent building a foundation for the future. The number 13 has the foundational vibration of humanity. Resonating with the vibrations of the number 13 can result in profound understandings.  The knowledge can be used for good or for evil, as past masters of the knowledge have demonstrated -- the wizards and witches and magicians of lore. The use of that understanding to gain what was unwanted by others or to gain control over others may be another reason for the numbers negative reputation. Everything is balanced. When something can be used for good, it can be used for bad. With a number as powerful as 13, the effects can be dramatic and profound and can have a long-lasting ripple effect into the future.
