The Richard Evans Foundation on Access to Quality Education and Healthy Food

Having access to quality education and healthy food is not the norm for some children from poor homes. Hence why children need to have access to quality meals for proper growth and development. Also, as a basic human right, children are entitled to quality basic education; however, this is not the reality for some children.

Seeing this gap, The Richard Evans foundation aims to reduce or constrict this gap by providing quality and healthy meals to prioritize child well-being and health thereby preventing food poisoning and from junk food marketing.

Richard Evans Establishes The Richard Evans Foundation to Help Homeless Women and Children

Richard Evans is a successful entrepreneur in a variety of businesses. He started The Richard Evans Foundation to help less fortunate families particularly women and children in need..

Richard Evans is one of many people who are aware of humanity. As a devout Christian, father and friend, he found so many women and children living in the street, begging for money. He met this situation every day on a normal day he went to work, and back, from his business. He found similarities from the women living in the street. He noticed that besides struggling to keep a roof over their heads, these women also suffered from diverse mental health problems.

In some instances , women he knew well, who were living in conditions that appear to be normal family situations, were on the verge of homelessness or being asked to leave quite frequently from homes they shared with friends and family or lovers. They were going from home to home, not because they were bad people, but because they couldn’t pay their bills due to job loss or from being kicked out mainly because of intolerance of who they are, by the people they stayed with or landlords. These women couldn’t live in normal situations, making them live in the street and beg for money to survive. Richard Evans said, “ These women are not bad people; they are just individuals who needed more help than the average individual in Society.” Therefore, Richard started to help them financially, giving them shelter and  other resources. His real action was helping those women enhance their lives. Richard was also giving out his own money to individuals who needed help, particularly for homeless families or homeless individuals. He knew these people are those who  needed help the most in our society.

Richard is a patient and a passionate person. He reached his breaking point when he saw a women with three children begging for some money at the gas station and unfortunately, everyone kept walking past her. Disgusted at what he was seeing, at that moment, he vowed to dedicate his life to the advancement of the less fortunate families in need. He established the Richard Evans Foundation and vowed to help unfortunate families , particularly single mothers with kids and  women in the world through financial support shelter and charity.

Mending Broken Pieces, Inc. Launches Dream Connect, a Website of Resource For Homeless Youth and Young Adult

Dream Connect is a free website of resource for homeless youth and young adults (ages 14-24) to get access to  information on basic needs like  food, shelter, education opportunities, and many more. Dream Connect will be released on September 21, 2020

Mending Broken Pieces, Inc., a non-profit organization, will launch the Dream Connect website (www.dreamconnect.org) on September 21, 2020. Dream Connect was originally known as Dream Machine, launched in May 2019. But it has updated its design and content under the new name Dream Connect.  Dream Connect provides comprehensive information on shelter, food, healthcare, mental healthcare, opportunities for high school, colleges, universities, technical training, and help to escape human trafficking.

According to Mending Broken Pieces founder, there is a stigma attached to homelessness that can silence homeless youth and young adults and make them reluctant to ask for help or tell someone that they are homeless.   Dream Connect helps them access the resources and services that they need and gives them control over to whom and how often they must tell their stories of homelessness.

According to the data, as many as 4.2 million youth and young adults experience homelessness nationally, and 700,00 are unaccompanied minors, and in Georgia the number of homeless students has increased every year since the 2011-12 academic. Homeless youth are vulnerable to abuse, assault, exploitation, and illness. Having a reliable resource like Dream Connect that can be accessed 24/7 without having to repeatedly relive their trauma is important.

Mending Broken Pieces, Inc founder Dr. Wilson says, "I know from personal experience that a dream needs people to believe it, and funds to achieve it.  Dream Connect believes in their dreams and provides resources so they can remain in or go to school to achieve them.

Ed’s Southern Food & Spirits Announces Vegetable Growing for the Homeless Project

Help fund a hydroponic vegetable growing operation to help feed the homeless and unemployed in the greater Eastern North Carolina area

Goldsboro, NC – June 26, 2015 – Ed’s Southern Food & Spirits is a farm to table restaurant that has been embraced by the Goldsboro North Carolina community. They have been fortunate with making their dreams come true by using their total combined knowledge of 44 years as business men with other ventures to gain success with opening this restaurant business that uses only fresh and organic products found in their community and farms.

However, these men realize that there are those that are less fortunate in their community who need help in their daily lives with basic necessities such as being able to have enough food to eat a proper meal or not having food at all where these people haven’t eaten all day.

Ed’s Southern Food & Spirits started a Vegetable Growing for the Homeless campaign on GoFundme. Their new idea is a hydroponic vegetable growing operation and urban agriculture project for feeding the homeless and unemployed in their community. Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without soil using water and mineral nutrients allowing a continuous-flow solution culture that allows plants and vegetables to continuously grow under any conditions indoors.

They have filed for a 501 (c)3 status to create a non-profit foundation, however they will not receive their status for many months, so they decided to start this process to help feed the homeless and unemployed by using their own money and  also donations.

“Roughly Speaking: Voices From The Soup Kitchen” Tells Stories of Homeless People

Top-Tier Play Will Use Material Obtained From Service Interviews with Homeless

New York, New York:  May 11,  2015  “Roughly Speaking: Voices From The Soup Kitchen,” is a forthcoming investigative theater piece which captures the many hues and layers of the life of those who’ve fallen into homelessness.

The Platform Group, an Off-Broadway Theater Company with calls to action embedded in their numerous high caliber productions, are using their wealth of production experience to create this awareness-raising and insightful play which will creatively depict the varied experiences of the homeless. The truth-telling performances were culled from actual homeless individuals who entrusted their stories into the hands of playwright volunteers during feeding mission encounters. In more ways than one, working in the soup kitchen gave these select volunteers a depth of perspective. Through the platform of service-related engagement, material for this performance emerged.

The volunteers gathered data from their shared encounters at St. Francis Xavier Mission’s Welcome Table, which serves between 900-1600 hot meals weekly.

There is a raw and poignant truth about the homeless. They each have a story detailing how they got where they are. A change of fortune may have landed them in this situation.
There are stories within stories. In New York City alone, records reveal that 60,000 people are homeless on a daily basis. In this populous city, as well as other points on the globe, the homeless often become invisible to some, an inconvenient reality to others and a source of embarrassment to others still.

To view more details about the professional talent behind this project, visit www.KickstartPlatform.com

The success of this campaign will allow this project to develop to its fullest potential. The productions will be used to elevate the awareness about homelessness and provide opportunities for a broad swath of the population to participate in combating homelessness.
