Help Me and My Family Get Back What We Lost From a Fire: GoFundMe Campaign Launched

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Help Me and My Family Get Back What We Lost From a Fire: GoFundMe Campaign Launched

Pompano Beach, FL — 09-04-2024— The Michel family, comprising eight members including four children, two nephews, and parents, tragically lost their home and belongings in a devastating fire on April 1, 2024. The family, led by Samson Michel, narrowly escaped the blaze unharmed but now faces the daunting task of rebuilding their lives from scratch.

Samson Michel, the patriarch of the family, recounts the harrowing incident: "On that fateful night, while we were sleeping, our home became engulfed in flames. Despite our efforts, we couldn't salvage anything. Our focus was solely on ensuring the safety of everyone, and thankfully, we all made it out safely."

The aftermath of the fire has left the Michel family without essential possessions, including clothing, household items, and basic necessities. With four children aged 1, 6, 13, and 16, and two nephews aged 18 and 23, along with Samson and his wife, the need for immediate assistance is pressing. Currently displaced, the family is staying in a hotel until investigations into the cause of the fire are concluded.

Samson Michel appeals to the community for support during this challenging time: "We are reaching out for help and support in any way possible. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in helping us rebuild our lives. Our children cannot even attend school as they lack the necessary clothing. Your generosity will provide us with the means to start anew and restore a sense of normalcy for our family."

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched with the goal of raising funds to assist the Michel family in recovering from this devastating loss. Donations will go towards securing temporary housing, replacing essential belongings, and facilitating the children's return to school.

Announcing Daniel's Medical and Education Fund

To the St. Mark's and Hockaday Communities and Alumni and Friends, I graduated in class of 1983

Frisco, TX -- May 14, 2015 – Daniel Bailey started a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe.com for medical and education expenses. He really doesn’t like to ask for help but he really is in need and is looking for help from the St. Mark’s and Hockaday communities, alumni, friends, and the public.

Daniel lost his right leg and his left leg and is partially paralyzed in a tragic accident. It has been a long road, but Daniel is making strides. He had to give up his medical career, and is now pursuing a business career.  Daniel is currently at Campbellsville University getting his MBA.

Daniel started a fundraiser on GoFundMe.com because he is looking for support with his education, and outstanding medical bills. Also, as part of medical issues he wishes to strengthen himself with training and endurance with the use of a prosthetic leg, provided by my friends and help from prosthetist Scott Sabolich.

A special training machine such as Biodex Biostep or Nustep, and some personal training will be helpful to fulfill Daniel’s dreams. He wishes to get a fresh start with his fiance, LeRey, because she is very special to him. He wants to be able to stand throughout his entire wedding holding her hand.

Announcing The Kidney Cancer Bills Funding Campaign for the Wiedow Family

San Francisco, CA – December 11, 2014 – Wendy Wiedow is a wife and the mother of a precious and brave little 9 year old girl named Tracy. Four years ago, her family were all together living in their own home in West Virginia, celebrating Christmas 2010 with her husband Walter and their two girls Cindy age 10 and Tracy then age 6.

Those were the innocent and happy days of December 2010. A dream world so far away now....but little did we know then that just one year later Walter would have lost his job as a coal mining shuttle car operator we would lose our home to foreclosure and the worse nightmare of all, we would lose our little girl Cindy to kidney cancer.

After Walter lost his job, the Wiedows tried desperately to keep their home for their little girls sake, but in the end with very little income coming in they just could not make even the lowest of mortgage payments. So they took their belongings from the house and just let it go into foreclosure. They moved into a small two bedroom apartment in a high crime neighborhood an hour’s drive from their home.

One day on a Sunday in late June after church, Cindy came out of the bathroom and she was not smiling
with her drawing book as she would normally do, but just walked slowly over to her mom in the kitchen and said "Mom...my water-(pee) is red". Well, the thinking at the time was she has a urinary infection (girls get them at her age). They took Cindy to the doctor first thing Monday morning, and yes she did have a urinary infection, but the doctor said just to make sure, he would send out all of Cindy's test samples to have them analyzed.

A few days later the doctor called and he wanted them to see him at his office. He told them Cindy has cancer and she must go to the hospital right away for further tests. Those further tests would
reveal Cindy had Wilms Tumor (Kidney Cancer). After months of out-of state cancer treatments, their beautiful loving daughter and sister Cindy died at home with her family around her, she was 10 years old.

After Cindy died, the Wiedows decided to pick up and move out west. One day while driving south of Las Vegas Nevada, they stopped by a medical clinic to get Tracy a complete physical. The nurse there told them that Tracy has a slight discoloration in her urine and were told once that Tracy may have a genetic predisposition kidney cancer. “Oh no!” Wendy said…”Not our only surviving
daughter Tracy!”

They did not want to wait this time like her sister Cindy did. So they got a map to find the nearest hospital and had Tracy checked-in. The test results came back and Tracy did have Wilms Tumor (Kidney Cancer) but it was in the very early stages. They stayed near the hospital for 6 months while Tracy got surgery/radiation/chemotherapy. One day the doctor told them Tracy is now cancer free, and Wendy fainted into Walter's arms. The Wiedows can live again!

They now owe medical, housing food and travel expenses that have ballooned to a mind boggling total of $114,387.59 They are now poorer than they have ever been in their lives but they are happy because we have "Our Faith in The Lord" and knowing our precious little Tracy is now Cancer Free!

Announcing the Rodini Roldan Fundraiser for Prostate Cancer

Please support our dad, Rodini Roldan, as he undergoes surgery & other costly medical interventions treating his Stage III Prostate Cancer.

Juneau, Alaska – November 2, 2014 – Rodini’s daughter trying to raise money for her father because he has recently been diagnosed with Stage III Prostate Cancer, and has surgery this month, as well as many more treatments & interventions needed down the line.

In their small hometown, they are not fortunate enough to have the specialists and skilled surgeons in advanced medical facilities that are available in larger cities to take care of his treatment locally. So, in addition to the costs of treatment, their family also has additional traveling, as well as any other unexpected medical/travel costs, which can be very hard on any family.

Rodini's ailment does not only affect him being away from work, but it also affects their mother's work too. Their mother will be the one who will accompany him out of town to fly to Seattle for his procedures, and be the one to remain steadfast by Rodini's side, nursing him back to a level of strength and health where he is able to fly back to home. As one would imagine, time spent away from work detracts from earnings that would normally bring in the income of two working parents, thus, making budgets tighter for the family as a whole. Naturally, this has an effect on the children who are dependent on this income, and while my parents do not want us to stress about finances, being their children, they, of course, cannot help it.

Rodini’s daughter starting a GiveForward campaign to lighten the financial burden that is put upon any individual or family affected by major illness that is also having to undergo treatment.

About Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer only affects men and occurs in a gland located below the bladder. Currently, no effective treatment is currently available for when after the cancer has reached advanced stages. That is why prostate cancer remains the second leading cause of cancer death in American males. It is very rare in men under 40. People may experience problems urinating, and chronic lower back pain. Ninety percent of cases spread from the prostate to the bones.

Prostate cancer is referred to as stage III if the cancer can be detected by digital rectal examination and has extended through the capsule that encloses the prostate gland and may involve nearby tissues.
